Mourning Aragorn by OtisFrampton Mourning Aragorn by OtisFrampton
This is a digital commission featuring an elf maiden and her mortal beloved.

The original line art measures 7 1/2 x 14 inches and was drawn on Bristol using Micron pens. The final artwork was colored in Photoshop CS4 using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX.

You can watch a recording of me coloring (most of) this piece on my Ustream channel here: [link]

Really like your artistic style, and a brilliant rendition of one of the many memorable parts of the LOTR books...

Bah. Not supposed to happen in Lord of the Rings. In the OFFICIAL story she's supposed to grow old and die like a mortal for choosing to stay with Aragorn. One of the few things I hated about the movies.

"But Arwen became mortal woman and yet even so it was not her lot to die until she had lost all she gained. For though she lived with Aragorn for five-score years after and great was their glory, yet at last he said farewell and laid himself down and died ere old age unmanned him. But Arwen went from the city and from her children and passed away into the land of Loth-Lorien and died their alone under the fading trees for Galadriel was also gone and Lorien was withering. And then at last, it is said, she laid herself to rest upon Cerin Amroth and there was her green grave until all the world was changes and all the days of her life were utterly forgotten by men that came after and elenor and nifredil bloomed no more east of the sea."
