Okay, as I said in previous updates, I've been thinking about how to expand the reward options now that it looks like I may reach my original goal of raising $5000.00 in pledges.
My primary goal in starting the "Oddly Normal 2.0" Kickstarter campaign was to raise money to allow me to take time off from freelance jobs to work on a new Oddly book. But I honestly thought that if I achieved that goal it would most likely be by the skin of my teeth and via many, many small donations. Instead, it looks like I'll hit the target early and with a few large donations.
That being said, if the pledges go above and beyond the $5000.00 goal during the next 39 days, I would like to use the money to do a print-on-demand run of the finished book for certain pledge levels.
Here's a breakdown of what I had in mind:
If the campaign raises $5500.00 or more, everyone who pledged $50.00 or more will receive a signed copy of the final book with a special alternate cover (as opposed the the cover that will be used for the published version with original line art given to the person who pledged $2000.00).
And if the campaign raises $6000.00 or more, everyone who pledged $25.00 or more will receive a signed copy of the final book with a special alternate cover (as opposed the the cover that will be used for the published version with original line art given to the person who pledged $2000.00).
I would most likely print the book through
[link] , a print-on-demand service I have used before. The book would be full color, manga-sized and , as stated above, with a special cover that will be used only for this version of the book.
If these "unlockable reward" levels are reached, I will no longer be creating a special printing of the first two chapters (which is the current reward for the $200 and above levels). That reward would be nullified in favor of the complete book.
I think that if I can reach those pledge totals and begin offering copies of the final book, I will be able to raise even more money in pledges, which will help to pay for the cost of rewards at all levels and give me even more time to work on the book.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these potential unlockable rewards. Please leave a comment or send me a message on the Kickstarter campaign page:
